Check out my The Countess Farming Guide for more information. The Countess has a guaranteed chance to always drop a High Rune and can even drop more than one. It's also possible to 'ebug' a piece of Ethereal Armor that you find which will increase the Defense bonuses by 50%, check out my Ebugging Guide for more information.įarming High Runes: Out of all locations in the game one stands above the rest for farming specifically High Runes, the Countess during Act 1. If you find a 'Superior' piece of armor with +Enhanced Defense, a Superior Weapon with +Enhanced Damage or a Helm/Weapon that has +Skill bonuses for a certain class, all of these will remain on the final Rune Word that is created. It’s the best chance of getting white or socketed items. As for finding an armor my suggestion if you can is hell cow runs. Keep in mind something like a 15 enhanced archon plate would have wayyyyyyy more base defense at 601. Keep in mind that all Rune Words you create will retain any pre-existing bonuses found on the item. I think Enigma gives +750-775 def so anything above 250 will give you 1k+ armor. Sorceress' come with Teleport built into their class and Amazons have too slow of frames when casting to make Teleport as useful for them. The runeword itself is worth a lot, you DON’t want to do it in any armor piece also, better use it in a low str requirement armor (dusk shroud and archon plate are probably your best bet) also, you want it to have good Def so you can sell it back if you ever want to change your gear/character. Some of the builds for these classes are based entirely around Enigma and won't function without it. Necromancers, Paladins, Druids, basically every character except Sorceress' and Amazons will have a build or two that Enigma is the recommended best in slot item for. Enigma is the most popular best in slot Rune Word in the entire game because it is one of the only items that offers the Teleport ability.
